Synopsis
The Honourable Peter Leask, KC, shares tips and tricks on judicial settlement conferences.
Speaker Bio
The Honourable Peter Leask, K.C. graduated from Harvard Law in 1966. Peter had a wide and varied career as a lawyer, including teaching at the Faculty of Law at UBC, practicing criminal defence, and significant involvement in the betterment of the profession. Peter was elected as a bencher of the Law Society in the 1980s before being appointed a life bencher in 1993. In 2005, Peter was appointed a justice of the Supreme Court of British Columbia, and was in that role until his retirement from the bench in 2017. During that time he conducted numerous judicial settlement conferences. Following his retirement from the bench, Peter has returned to the practice of law with a focus on problem solving, negotiation, mediation and arbitration.
