Description:

Does your practice involve one of the many areas of health law? On January 23rd, 2018, members from Ng Ariss Fong, lawyers, will present a webinar entitled “2017 Health Law in Review.” The webinar will focus on key developments and cases relevant to practitioners in 2017, allowing them to stay at the forefront of issues in 2018.

Some of the topics discussed will include:

  • Both the government and court’s response to BC’s opioid crisis
  • Legal issues that have emerged as a result of Carter v. Canada, 2015 SCC 5 and the subsequent 2016 amendments to the Criminal Code in regard to medically assisted dying.
  • Emerging constitutional concerns with BC’s Mental Health Act
  • First Nation’s health and federal problems in applying “Jordan’s Principle”
  • The legal response to sexual assaults at post-secondary institutions
  • Important case law in medical malpractice and personal injury law.

We hope that you will be able to join us in discussing a wide array of issues that will continue to affect us in 2018.
