TOPIC:  The Caretaker Convention
SPEAKER:  Charlotte Price, Assistant Deputy Minister of Cabinet Operations and Coordination

When an election is called in Canada, it kicks off the election period as well as the caretaker period. Charlotte Price, ADM of Cabinet Operations and Coordination, will explain the “caretaker convention” and how it affects government operations during the caretaker period (from the calling of the election until the installation of the Cabinet).
