The 2017 Annual Summit will survey a broad range of topics on emerging trends and recent developments in environmental, energy and natural resources law at the federal and provincial levels.

Leading experts from across Canada will provide updates on case law decisions, the Species At Risk Act, and federal and provincial enforcement trends.

Other topics that may be covered include:

  • Climate change policy and legislation programs
  • GHG emission reduction, energy preparedness, land use planning and adaptation strategies
  • Social acceptability and social license in the context of major projects
  • Environmental risk insurance products
  • Legal issues surrounding transboundary and linear projects and activities
  • A cross-country review on groundwater and surface water management
  • Project financing and development: Understanding what is material and when
  • Environmental risk-sharing mechanism in real estate agreements and commercial transactions


The Annual Summit will also include ethics, professionalism and practice management content on solicitor-client privilege, environmental reporting, and dealing with health risks in environmental files.

Cancellation Policy: There will be a 20% administrative charge for any registration cancellation received in writing prior to March 27, 2017. No refund will be given after that. There will be no refunds for "no-show" registrants.
