Stephen P. Anway will discuss his experience in what promises to be a very interesting presentation on Developments in Investment Treaty Arbitration Under Bilateral And Multi-Lateral Investment Treaties Involving Energy. Stephen practices in the international arbitration group of Squire, Sanders & Dempsey (US) LLP, in both its New York and Cleveland offices. Stephen has represented The Republic of Ecuador and The Czech Republic in multi-billion dollar international investment treaty arbitrations in the past several years, and was lead counsel for The Czech Republic in the seminal case, Phoenix Action, Ltd. v. Czech Republic, ICSID Case No. ARB/06/5. Stephen also played a lead role in obtaining recognition and enforcement of a billion dollar UNCITRAL award under the New York Convention of 1958 (as well as defeating a cross-petition to vacate the award). Robert Wisner will also discuss his arbitration experience in this valuable presentation. Robert practices as a partner in the Litigation group of McMillan. His practice focuses on international commercial arbitration, cross-border litigation, investment treaty arbitration and international trade. Robert has argued cases involving businesses and governments from around the world before international arbitral tribunals established under international commercial contracts, bilateral investment treaties and trade agreements. Robert has represented his clients in ICSID, UNCITRAL and NAFTA investment treaty arbitrations arising out of the energy sector against states in North and South America, Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
