Key Employment Law and Recruitment Issues for the Immigration Lawyer
Citizenship and Immigration Law | Original Program Date: June 21, 2016

The intersection between employment and immigration law is becoming increasingly crucial, particularly in the area of temporary foreign workers, employer support in applications for permanent residence, and compliance reviews and inspections.  Immigration lawyers often face questions from clients relating to employment contracts for foreign workers coming to Canada temporarily, indeterminate offers of employment for employees who are seeking permanent residence in Canada, and on employment standards and recruitment issues in compliance reviews.  Join our panel of experts to discuss key issues including:

  • Identifying and addressing red flags in relation to employment issues in the immigration context
  • Ensuring that employment contracts and letters of support for temporary foreign nationals protect both the employee and the employer
  • Identifying and addressing issues in relation to employment standards - such as overtime and vacation pay – and worker’s safety and compensation that arise during compliance reviews and inspections
  • Advising clients on recruitment issues
