OBA Environmental LAW PROGRAM | 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM

A lack of understanding of the endangered species laws in Ontario, and their sometimes messy intersection, can create conflicts, additional costs and delays during infrastructure and development projects.  Join us for a timely discussion about the competing public interest implications of infrastructure and development projects in Ontario, and obtain take-aways and lessons learned on how to anticipate and proactively address a project’s impact on habitat and species, to ensure that species are protected and unnecessary costs and delay are avoided.  A project that does not consider species-at-risk is a project-at-risk.

Our experienced speakers will provide you with an overview of the relevant environmental laws and discuss the key issues that developers, legal practitioners, experts, and host communities grapple with, such as habitat destruction, appropriate mitigation measures, and appeals to the Environmental Review Tribunal.  Whether you represent a developer, municipality, or community group, it is important to understand the (sometimes messy) interaction between the approvals regimes under the Environmental Protection Act and the requirements of the Endangered Species Act and related regulations, and the impact it might have on a particular project.

Register now for this timely and valuable discussion.
