Ontario’s Patient Ombudsman: First Year in Review

Christine Elliott, Patient Ombudsman, will share with us:

  • An overview of the functions of the Patient Ombudsman, including patient complaints and investigations
  • The trends in patient concerns and the systemic issues that exist and recommendations for changes
  • Her comments on the new Quality of Care Information Protection Act, 2016 (coming into force July 1, 2017) and its impact on patients’ requests for information and answers
  • The reporting obligations to the Minister of Health and Long Term Care
  • The role of Patient Ombudsman in increasing accountability and transparency in the health care system
