OBA Insurance and Workers' Compensation Law PROGRAM | Orginal Program Date: February 6, 2018

There is a significant overlap between Insurance law and Workers Compensation law that you need to understand so you can navigate both areas of areas competently. Attend this program to gain strategies you can use in the initial interview of a client and throughout the progress of a case.

You will also boost your understanding of the scope of Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) coverage, the right to sue, and the jurisdiction of the courts versus the Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal (WSIAT). Our experienced faculty will walk you through the process of electing to sue a third party, the process for settlement of a civil claim, and the subrogated authority of the WSIB or a worker’s employer to control litigation.

Register now to gain a firm understanding of how these two practice groups interact and to ensure you are providing the best representation for your clients.
