Now in its 13th year, the annual joint conference of the CBA National Administrative Law and Labour & Employment Law Sections is established as the critical event to offer a solid grounding in the latest developments affecting your clients and your practice, to enhance your professional skills and to network with colleagues from around the country.
Our expert panelists include judges, academics, counsel who serve on or appear before government agencies in all areas of administrative law, and lawyers with expertise in the representation of employers, employees and unions. Conference speakers will challenge each other and delegates on current topics related to their primary areas of practice. All conference attendees will receive a USB key containing the conference papers received.
Highlights of this year's conference include:
- “Fireside Chat" with Mr. Justice Thomas Cromwell of the Supreme Court of Canada
- the popular "year in review", a dialogue on noteworthy judicial decisions in the previous year
- plenary sessions on specialized expert evidence and investigations, and expertise of administrative tribunal members, with a special focus on super-tribunals
- specialized administrative law sessions on topics such as recent developments in lobbying legislation and the implications of the Telezone series of decisions
- specialized labour & employment sessions on topics such as the impact of social media and biometrics, and the latest mediation and ADR techniques and mechanisms
- the entertaining and informative annual "View From the Bench" featuring judges from across Canada speaking about recent developments in administrative and employment and labour law
