Agenda

Connect with your colleagues. Discuss practice issues. Debate controversial topics. Celebrate!

8:00 am-9:30 am               Networking breakfast: Diversity in the IP Bar

New this year! Inspired by last year’s IP Debates keynote speaker, retired Justice Judith Snider, who lamented the lack of diversity in the bar when she asked where are the women? Start off the day with diverse leaders in the IP law profession and network in an informal setting. All are welcome to attend this special networking breakfast celebrating diversity in the IP Bar.

10:00 am-12:00 pm          Town Hall Meeting (2.0 substantive hours*)

The 8th annual forum on IP litigation reform, hosted by CBA, allows members of the bench and bar to engage in an open discussion of possible procedural reform in a “town hall” format.

12:15-4:45 pm                    The 2016 IP Debates (3.5 substantive hours*)

                                              12:15-1:45                           Luncheon Keynote Address

                                              1:45-4:45                              IP Debates

The IP Debates will feature several topics of interest to IP litigators. There will be two speakers on each topic who will debate the issues. Speakers will be primarily senior members of the IP litigation bar.

7:15 pm                                CBA Judges’ Dinner

The evening pays tribute to retiring members of the Federal Courts and the intellectual property bar who have made significant contributions to intellectual property law in Canada. This is a unique opportunity for junior and senior members of the bar to meet and mingle socially with judges of the Federal Court of Appeal and Federal Court. Pictures of the 2015 gala event can be viewed on the CBA Flickr page.

6:30 pm-7:15 pm              Junior Bar cocktail reception (by invitation only)

7:15 pm-8:00 pm              Cocktail reception (for all attendees)

8:00 pm                              Dinner and honouree presentations
