Synopsis

Cynthia Callison, Darwin Hanna and Karen Snowshoe will lead a discussion on the topic of “cultural competency” for lawyers. This joint section meeting is intended to fulfill the CBABC’s policy to integrate Indigenous cultural competency within future professional development for lawyers. The CBABC adopted this policy in response to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s (TRC) call for lawyers to receive appropriate cultural competency training (see Call to Action #27 addressed to the Federation of Law Societies of Canada).

This session will qualify as instruction in professional ethics.
