NOTICE OF MEETING

DATE: Monday, March 4, 2019
TIME: 12:00 Noon – 1:30pm
LOCATION: 2nd Floor Conference Room, 444 St. Mary Avenue, Winnipeg
TOPIC: Amendments to The Public Interest Disclosure (Whistleblower Protection) Act
SPEAKER: Cary K. Jackson, Public Interest Disclosure Investigations - Manitoba Ombudsman

In 2018, the provincial government amended The Public Interest Disclosure (Whistleblower Protection) Act.  These amendments extend protection to school divisions and districts, and enhance the investigative powers of the provincial ombudsman.  Municipalities have the ability to opt-in to the legislative scheme, and Winnipeg and Brandon have already done so.  Cary Jackson, an investigator with the Manitoba Ombudsman’s office, will explain these new amendments and their impact on public sector employees.

Please RSVP to the Manitoba Bar Association online.  If you are not able to attend in person, there is an option to attend via teleconference.

Attendance at this MBA Section meeting can be applied towards your Law Society of Manitoba's Continuing Professional Development requirement for a maximum of 1.5 hours.
