Honour of the Crown: A New Cause of Action in Specific Claims

Perry Robinson is a Senior Counsel with nearly 40 years of experience specializing in Aboriginal law in Canada. He previously served with the Department of Justice and Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs, where he worked almost exclusively on Specific Claims from 1997 to 2017. Perry represented Canada before the Indian Specific Claims Commission (now the Specific Claims Tribunal) and coordinated Tribunal litigation after its establishment. From 2014 to 2017, he was Senior Counsel at the Aboriginal Law Center, focusing on Treaty and fiduciary law, and served on the Department of Justice’s National Litigation Committee. Since joining Maurice Law in 2020, Perry has dedicated his expertise to advancing First Nations' interests in Specific Claims matters.

His deep institutional knowledge and hands-on experience in Specific Claims negotiations and litigation make him an ideal speaker for discussing the evolving "Honour of the Crown" doctrine and its potential as a new cause of action.
