Primer on Care First and Regulations
Presented by the CBA Alberta Insurance Law (North) Section
On Demand. Originally presented on Dec 2, 2025.
"The CBA Auto Reform Working Group is a volunteer group of lawyers who work for injured claimants and insurance companies, ensuring a diverse and balanced viewpoint of both plaintiff and defence counsel. The Working Group studies, assesses and advocates regarding the proposed changes to the Alberta automobile insurance system.
The discussion will focus on what we know so far of the private no-fault system, set to come into effect January 2027 and replace the current tort system. It will examine the Automobile Insurance Act, SA 2025, c A-47, the four draft regulations the Government of Alberta has released, and the Government of Alberta’s “Care-First Auto Insurance” intentions paper."
