Administrative Law: Annual Case Law Update

Presented by the CBA Alberta Adminstrative Law (South) Section

On Demand. Originally presented on May 14, 2026.

Join Mark Mancini, JP Mousseau, Lisa Hynes, and Josh Jantzi  for a lively discussion of recent administrative law decisions released between May 2025 and April 2026.

Each presenter will share a case they found especially noteworthy and walk participants through the key facts, the administrative law principles engaged, and the reasoning of the court or tribunal. The focus will be on why the decision stands out and what it may signal for lawyers, decision-makers, and regulated parties.

By bringing together academic, regulatory, judicial, and private-practice perspectives, the session offers a rare opportunity to see how decisions resonate across different institutional roles.

PRESENTERS

Mark Mancini (Assistant Professor, Faculty of Law, Thompson Rivers University)
JP Mousseau (General Counsel, Alberta Utilities Commission)
Lisa Hynes (Legal Counsel, Court of Appeal of Alberta)
Josh Jantzi (Partner & Co-chair of the Canadian Regulatory and Environmental Law Group, DLA Piper Canada LLP)
