Bill C-5: The Implications and Implementation of the Building Canada Act

Presented by the CBA Alberta Administrative Law (South) Section

The Building Canada Act is intended to streamline major project assessment and regulatory approvals by designating "projects of national interest." The panelists will discuss key features of the legislation, current status of listing decisions and the implementation of the legislation, with a special focus on environmental assessment, federal-provincial cooperation, indigenous consultation and the regulatory process. The panelists will address concerns with regulatory design and the potential for litigation.
