The Lifecycle of a Claim – Considerations from Contract Drafting through Dispute Resolution

Presented by the CBA Alberta Construction Law (North) Section

On Demand. Originally presented on Apr. 27, 2026.

During this session, Revay walked participants through the lifecycle of a construction claim, showing how issues often started with contract drafting, grew during project delivery, and surfaced as disputes at the end of a project. The presentation illustrated how unclear contracts, and issues with project management and contract administration, created challenges that complicated claims and disputes. It concluded by explaining how delay and damages experts had to look back and rely on the contracts and records that existed, and how early decisions directly affected entitlement, credibility, and the resolution of disputes.

Please note that the meeting was not recorded; however, the PowerPoint presentation is available to view.
