Presented by the CBA Alberta Criminal Justice (South) Section
On Demand. Originally presented on Jan 15, 2026.
Artificial Intelligence is said to be transforming our society, but this meeting will explore the implications of it on the practice of criminal law. Is AI providing a tremendous benefit or does it pose significant risks? With more than 30 years experience practicing law in Ontario and Alberta, and now a sitting Court of King’s Bench Justice, Lisa Silver brings a unique perspective to this important debate. Michael Bates KC will discuss how AI is impacting the legal practice of criminal law and what practitioners need to be aware of in this transformative age of technology.
