Appealing Arbitration Awards
Presented by the CBA Alberta Family Law (South) Section
Please join us for a presentation from Lane Aman of Hayher Lee LLP on appealing arbitration awards. Lane will cover several key considerations, including:
- when an arbitration award can actually be challenged, and what you should have done long before that point
- the clauses that need to be in the arbitration agreement if you want a real right of appeal
- the appeal routes available in Alberta family law
- the process from award to hearing, and
- how to prepare clients for the cost, delay, and risk of an appeal
If you draft arbitration agreements, advise on settlement vs. arbitration, or may one day have to live with—or attack—an award, join the Section for this session.
