Constitutional and Community Impacts of Bill 26

Presented by the CBA Alberta Health Law (South) Section

On Demand. Originally presented on May 14, 2026.

Presenters from Egale Canada, Skipping Stone, and McCarthy Tétrault are pleased to discuss the status of their challenge to Bill 26, the Government of Alberta’s prohibition against gender affirming care for minors. In addition to the progress of the case and its impact on heath law in Alberta, they will address the impact Bill 26 has had and continues to have on the community and how organizations like Egale and Skipping Stone help bridge the gap between community needs and legal action.

PRESENTERS

Branden Cave (Associate, McCarthy Tetrault LLP)
Eric Freeman (Legal Team, Egale Canada)
