Low-Speed Collisions and Injury Causation: A Biomechanical Perspective
Presented by the CBA Alberta Insurance Law (South) Section
On Demand. Originally presented on May 21, 2026.
Please join us for a webinar on the biomechanical assessment of low-speed motor vehicle collisions, including rear, side, frontal, and sideswipe engagements. Understanding the forces and motions experienced by occupants during these events is central to evaluating injury causation in personal injury litigation. This Section meeting will review the latest biomechanical techniques used to assess occupant loading and risk of injury across body regions. It will also address the distinction between acute loading injuries and those arising from prolonged fatigue or degenerative processes, such as intervertebral disc herniations and rotator cuff tears.
