Baker, Li, Wigdor: The Court of Appeal Trilogy Every Employment Lawyer Must Understand

Presented by the CBA Alberta Labour & Employment Law (South) Section

On Demand. Originally presented on Oct. 14, 2026.

The Ontario Court of Appeal has released three decisions that are already reshaping the employment law landscape in Ontario and beyond: Baker v. Van Dolder’s Home Team Inc., Li v. Wayfair Canada ULC, and Wigdor v. Facebook Canada Ltd. Join Barry Fisher, a mediator and arbitrator of both employment and labour relations matters, as he provides his insight on what these cases actually mean for practitioners – beyond the headnotes, beyond the summaries, and beyond the surface level commentary circulating online. This presentation is designed for lawyers who want to understand not just what the Court of Appeal said, but how these rulings will influence litigation strategy, negotiation leverage, and client expectations going forward – including here in Alberta.
