Changing Infill Regulation in Edmonton: An Industry Perspective
Presented by the CBA Alberta Municipal Law (North) Section
On Demand. Originally presented on Feb. 18, 2026.
Since the implementation of Zoning Bylaw 20001 in January 2024, Edmonton’s infill framework has continued to evolve. Amendments to small-scale residential regulations, design rules, and rezoning criteria have altered how housing projects move through the system.
In this session, Chelsey will provide a practitioner’s perspective on:
The intent and structure of Zoning Bylaw 20001
What changed when it came into force in 2024
What has been amended or adjusted since
How those changes are affecting infill housing in practice
The discussion will focus on the regulatory framework and its real-world application from an industry standpoint.
