Intellectual property is a critical asset for many organizations but managing it from within a company presents a unique set of opportunities and challenges. This panel brings together experienced in-house counsel to discuss what IP practice looks like from inside an organization—from managing patent and trademark portfolios to advising business teams and making strategic decisions about risk, cost, and innovation.

Panelists will share insights into the day-to-day realities of in-house IP practice, including balancing legal strategy with business priorities, navigating resource constraints, and determining when it is most effective to handle matters internally versus engaging external counsel. The discussion will also explore the practical challenges in-house lawyers face and the judgment calls required to manage complex IP issues efficiently.

Whether you practice IP law or not, this session offers valuable perspectives on how legal counsel operate within organizations, collaborate with external advisors, and support innovation while managing legal risk.
