SYNOPSIS
Presented by the Rural Education & Access to Lawyers Initiative.
Discover the ups and downs of a legal career outside a large urban centre. Students learn what's involved in setting up a practice and what it's like to work in small-town BC, from Campbell River to Trail to Prince Rupert.
ABOUT OUR SPEAKERS
About Coral Atchison
Coral practices primarily in the areas of family law and litigation. She completed her articles with Morelli Chertkow in the Williams Lake office and was called to the Bar in May 2017. Coral is originally from the Williams Lake area but completed her Bachelor of Arts in English at the University of Northern British Columbia in Prince George. She then moved to Kamloops to complete her Juris Doctor degree, graduating in 2016. During the summer of 2015, Coral participated in the summer student placement program with the Rural Education and Access to Lawyers Initiative (REAL) and spent the summer working at Morelli Chertkow in Williams Lake. Coral continued as an associate with Morelli Chertkow in Williams Lake until April 2023 when she and Kevin Church opened their own practice, Church Atchison LLP.
About Stewart Carstairs

Stewart became a partner at the firm in January 2014. He grew up in Campbell River and after an absence of more than 10 years, he returned to build his practice and raise his young family. After completing his Bachelor Degree at the University of Victoria, Stewart completed his Juris Doctor, studying at both Dalhousie University and the University of Victoria.
About Denise Espeut-Post
Denese is currently a lawyer practicing with Avery Law Office and a member of the Mental Health Review Board and the Health Professions Review Board. Previously she worked for the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions as a Prosecutor. Denise serves as an appointed member of the BC College of Social Workers (previously completing two terms as Chair). Denise has volunteered as a guest instructor for the Professional Legal Training Course, contributor to the PLTC course materials, and a committee member with Canadian Bar Association BC Branch and the Law Society of BC. She holds her Bachelor of Laws from the University of Alberta and a Master of Laws with a specialization in health law from Osgoode Hall Law School. She holds Professional Manager (P. Mgr. with Canadian Institute of Management) and Trust and Estate Professional (TEP with the Society of Trusts and Estates Practitioners) designations. Denise was called to the Alberta Bar in July 2001 and the BC Bar in June 2009.
