SYNOPSIS

Lawyers, judges and the legal system have recently been under criticism. Elected officials are expressing their views about the outcome of court cases and the conduct of counsel through the media. Meanwhile, the provincial government has proposed significant changes to how the profession is regulated. And, the law society has been increasingly clear that their mandate is the protection of the public interest not the protection of lawyers' interests.

This half-day hybrid conference offered attendees the opportunity to engage with members of the Bench, Bar and Government on matters of judicial and lawyer independence.
