SYNOPSIS

There has been much discussion in the legal market regarding unconscious bias. A vast body of research shows unconscious racism, ageism, sexism, homophobia, amongst others play a big role in who legal employers hire, retain, and advance.

Unconscious bias can be detrimental to growing a diverse and innovative workforce. If everyone is the same, everyone will have the same ideas and come to the same conclusions. And that’s not how great businesses are built.

When we know better, we do better. In this session, we covered unconscious bias in the workplace – what it is, when it happens, and what strategies can be used to challenge the behaviour.

ACKNOWLEDGING FIRST NATIONS TERRITORIES

This webinar is hosted by CBABC, which is located on the traditional and unceded territory of the Coast Salish peoples, including the Squamish, Tsleil-Waututh and Musqueam First Nations. We encourage our members to explore the rich history and knowledge of Indigenous people, and to continue learning about their experience in Canada, past and present.
