While most professionals have long operated under legislated codes of conduct and disciplinary regimes, elected officials have traditionally been answerable only at the ballot box. That landscape is shifting.

Reece Harding and Nate Ruston discuss the evolving standards and legal frameworks of Codes of Conduct, including how accountability for locally elected officials is changing. They examine legislative developments and emerging case law, discussing how these changes are reshaping expectations for ethical conduct in local government and what this means for transparency, governance and public trust.
