Michelle Casavant, KC, explores the differences between mediation and Indigenous restorative circle processes, what a trauma-informed practice might include, and how approaches centered on relationships, accountability, and repair can expand our understanding of conflict resolution. Drawing on Indigenous legal traditions and restorative principles, this session invites ADR professionals to consider how we move beyond settlement toward deeper and more meaningful resolution.
About the Speaker
Michelle Casavant, KC is a Red River Métis lawyer, mediator, investigator, and circle facilitator based in Vancouver. She helps organizations navigate conflict through workplace and regulatory investigations, assessments, mediation, and Indigenous circle processes. Her practice is grounded in trauma-informed, culturally safe, and relational approaches that support accountability and restoration.
