Alina Morrisey examines recent Law Society Tribunal decisions involving lawyers acting for elderly clients with diminished capacity. Using Law Society of British Columbia v. Rule (2026 LSBC 11) as a case study, Alina explores the professional obligations that arise when representing vulnerable clients, including client instructions, and the quality of legal services expected by the Law Society. This session also reviews relevant provisions of the Code of Professional Conduct for British Columbia, the Law Society Rules, and available Law Society resources.
