This virtual session brings together two experts from WorkSafeBC to provide a balanced and practical examination of the legal landscape surrounding employers’ duties to accommodate and maintain employment under Bill 41 in BC.
Sharon Sielsky provides an overview of employers’ obligations, as well as the corresponding rights of employees in the accommodation and return-to-work context. Sharon focuses on the practical application of these duties and rights in workplace settings, offering valuable insight into compliance expectations and day-to-day implementation.
Ryan Androsoff provides a case law update, highlighting recent decisions and emerging trends in how these obligations are being interpreted and adjudicated. His discussion focuses on key judicial developments and what they signal for employers, employees, and their legal representatives.
This session is designed to be of value to employers, employees, and legal practitioners acting on behalf of both groups, offering a well-rounded understanding of the evolving legal landscape by combining statutory duties with current case law developments to support informed decision-making and effective advocacy.
