Jade Buchanan and Cael Hibbert take you through a simulation of a cyber attack, focusing on the role of the legal team. You’ll get to experience what it’s like to give real-time legal advice on breach reporting, privilege, risk mitigation, confidentiality and more.


Speaker Bios

Jade Buchanan brings a unique public sector focus with extensive experience advising on British Columbia’s public sector privacy legislation (the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act) for public bodies and their service providers. He has also led the negotiation of public sector technology contracts and outsourcing and understands the unique privacy, cybersecurity and commercial needs of the public sector. Jade has privacy and data protection rankings with Chambers and Lexpert and is a 2024 Lexpert Rising Star.

Cael Hibbert is an associate in McCarthy Tétrault’s Cyber/Data group. His practice focuses on privacy and data protection, including advising clients on privacy compliance, data handling and governance, and preparing for and responding to cybersecurity incidents. He holds a certificate in Privacy and Cybersecurity Law.
