The recent Ontario Court of Appeal decision, Nexus Solutions Inc. v. Krougly, 2026 ONCA 199, deals with the question of ownership under section 13(3) of the Copyright Act and what it means for a work to be created in the course of employment…or not.

The decision raises some interesting and timely issues at the intersection of intellectual property law, employment law, and in-house practice, particularly for those that advise organizations whose employees author creative, technical, or other intellectual works as part of their duties.

Please join our speakers, Julia Ryckman and Chimwemwe Undi, as they break down the decision and its implications for organizations and their employees. This session will touch on important issues for in-house lawyers, IP lawyers, employment lawyers, and any practitioner with an inquiring mind.
