Join leading experts and your peers from across Canada to explore critical and emerging issues at the annual Charity Law Symposium. The Charity & Not-For-Profit Section of the Canadian Bar Association is bringing you this essential one-day event. Among the speakers and topics planned for our 2018 session are:
- A look back at the Vancouver Society of Immigrant and Visible Minority Women v M.N.R. Supreme Court of Canada decision from the late 1990s, and what has happened in Canadian charity law jurisprudence since then;
- A session on regulatory considerations when registered charities are working with Aboriginal groups and communities;
- A review of any charity or not-for-profit changes featured in the 2018 federal Budget;
- A practice update on dealing with the Ineligible Individual provisions in the Income Tax Act, and director and officer incumbents or candidates who may be subject to them;
- A representative from the CRA Charities Directorate, updating the sector regarding the work of the Directorate.
