Breakthroughs to meet Court mandated accellerated timelines
June 8th, 2026 | 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM Eastern
Online (Zoom)

TIME EVENT

12:00 pm – 1:00 pm

CBA Dispute Resolution Section Brown Bag

Lawyers are now required to eliminate delays in civil proceedings.  What does a genuine "rethink" of how we practice law mean? Join a panel of practitioners making that leap.  This will be an open session, so bring your big ideas for discussion and advancing our best practices into the new era.  Consider these questions: What do clients really need? Are our billing and firm agreements holding us back? What can be learned from court adjacent decision makers: tribunals & arbitrations?  What are other jurisdictions doing to achieve faster outcomes? What has to change in our legal culture?  How do we structure our practice to achieve the best client outcome?

Speakers:

Elena Mamay, Mann Lawyers LLP (Ottawa, ON)
Emily Jackson, Alaska Labor Relations Agency (Alaska, USA)

Moderator:

Shannon Belvedere, City of Calgary, Law (Calgary, AB)
