Temporary Resident Permits for Victims of Intimate Partner Violence (RECORDING)

May 1, 2025
Fredericton Online

RECORDING

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada may issue a special temporary resident permit (“TRP”) to a victim of intimate partner violence that allows him/her to stay in Canada even if they have lost their immigration status. The program is designed to help vulnerable newcomers be able to flee abusive situations. This session will provide an overview of the eligibility requirements as well as how to prepare and submit the application. While family lawyers especially might have clients who would benefit, it is helpful for all lawyers to be aware of this special permit should they have a client who may be in need.
