CBA-NL: From Counsel to Court - Judicial Pathways for In-House Lawyers

Description

Join us for a moderated panel discussion focused on judicial appointments from the in-house bar. Inspired by a recent Ontario program and tailored to our local context, this session will explore what the path to the bench can look like for in-house counsel here at home.

Many lawyers working across government, Crown agencies, municipalities, regulatory bodies, and industry have expressed interest in judicial roles. Yet there is still a lingering perception that in-house experience doesn’t follow the “traditional” route to appointment. We want to challenge that narrative. The depth of experience in-house counsel bring , strategic thinking, governance insight, risk assessment, decision-making - is not only relevant, it is valuable.

This conversation is about visibility, opportunity, and recognizing the strength of the in-house bar.
