CBA-NL Real Property Law - Surveying Beyond the Boundary: How development standards affect existing property and future use

Description

A legal survey tells you where a property is, but not what can be done with it. This presentation introduces the basic concepts of land use planning and examines how development standards such as zoning, minimum side yards, and floodplain designations apply to existing properties and future development. It also looks at the risks these issues pose for lawyers and surveyors, and how land use planning relates to the Law Society's practice guidance on use and enjoyment of property.
