Employment Issues - Risk & Compliance

The CBA-NS In-House Counsel Section is pleased to partner with Stewart McKelvey for a series of virtual lunch-and-learn sessions this fall! Four sessions will be presented on topics of interest by leading experts at Stewart McKelvey, giving you valuabe CPD hours and an opportunity to connect with fellow in-house practitioners in Nova Scotia and beyond.

This session, presented by Rebecca Saturley, KC and Sean Kellywill give in-house counsel a practical update on the employment issues shaping risk and compliance work in Nova Scotia today. We will cover the key issues employers are struggling to manage in 2026, including:

  • the impact of the province's new mandatory workplace harrassment prevention policy under the amended Occupational Health & Safety Act
  • drafting a termination clause in an employment agreement - is anything enforceable?
  • the practical challenges of self-represented plaintiffs in the AI age
  • current challenges at the Human Rights Commission, and,
  • attendance management best practices
