OBA Privacy and Access to Information Law PROGRAM
Original Program Date: February 10, 2021

The federal government recently introduced Bill C-11, the Digital Charter Implementation Act, modernizing the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). The Act, which has taken the lead from the EU General Data Protection Regulation, proposes among other things, financial penalties as well as the right of data portability and right to be forgotten. Join our experienced panel as they discuss the implications of Bill C-11, in its current form, and how the privacy compliance obligations of organizations will change. Our panelists will outline the key new or modified requirements in the Act as they relate to an organization’s privacy compliance program, with a view to discussing some of the practical challenges these requirements will raise from the perspective of in-house counsel. Make sure you are up to speed with this insightful discussion.
