OBA Charity and Not-for-Profit Law PROGRAM | Original Program Date: January 25, 2023

Lawyers providing legal services to charities and not-for-profit organizations must understand the value of diversity and inclusion. According to a recent survey by Imagine Canada, 77% of the charity sector’s workforce are women, 47% are immigrants, and 35% are Indigenous or racialized individuals. Non-profits and charities that are led by, and serve, racialized communities face complex legal issues including, but not limited to, undue or biased regulatory scrutiny.

Participants will come away from this program with greater insight on the operational realities of their clients and how to deliver legal services in a way that focuses specifically on the needs and experiences of racialized communities.
