OBA Constitutional, Civil Liberties and Human Rights, and Environmental Law PROGRAM | Original Program Date: April 30, 2024

Climate change poses a significant threat to human society. Given the impact on human health and well-being, climate change and other environmental issues are increasingly becoming the subject of Charter litigation, as individuals and groups seek to hold the government to account for its role in regulating the activity that contributes to these impacts.  This Earth Month, join us to examine the unique issues that arise in litigating climate change under the Charter.  Learn from our excellent faculty about:

  • Experiences litigating in precedent-setting cases, including Mathur v. Ontario
  • Gathering and presenting scientific evidence
  • Whether these claims raise “positive rights”
  • The role of interveners
  • Expected outcomes and future trends
