Dispute Resolution: Early Family Dispute Resolution Exemptions: Navigating Saskatchewan’s King’s Bench Act
Join us for a focused lunch-hour session examining exemptions from Early Family Dispute Resolution under Saskatchewan’s King’s Bench Act. Neil McPhee is a Saskatoon-based litigator and mediator with a practice centred on family law and related civil disputes. He is Chair of the Canadian Bar Association, Saskatchewan Branch, Dispute Resolution Section. Over the course of his career, he has acted in family, civil, regulatory and criminal matters and has appeared before all levels of court in Saskatchewan. His current professional interests include the intersection of family and tort law, appellate advocacy and dispute resolution. He is a frequent presenter and contributor to professional legal education in Saskatchewan.
Neil will review the statutory framework governing Early Family Dispute Resolution, with particular attention to the circumstances in which an exemption may be available and the practical considerations that arise when seeking to proceed without first completing the usual dispute resolution requirements.
