SYNOPSIS


Gurminder Sandhu, KC, LSBC Bencher (Westminster County) and Manpreet Mand, CBABC Westminster County Representative, engage participants in this interactive, in-person session, to cover thought-provoking discussions on real-life ethical scenarios, relevant case studies, and the vital Code of Professional Conduct for British Columbia.

Participants will collaboratively address emerging ethical practice issues. By the end of each session, attendees will gain a deeper understanding of how to fulfill their obligations to clients, the courts, the profession, and the broader public.

About Gurminder Sandhu, KC
Gurminder Sandhu attended UBC law school and was called to the bar in 2000. He currently practises general litigation at Hamilton Duncan.

First elected a Bencher for 2022, Gurminder is a member of the Credentials Committee and Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Committee.

In serving the legal community, Gurminder has acted in the following roles over the past 20 years: volunteer with Salvation Army Legal Clinic, LSLAP, PLTC and CBA Practice Panel; mentor with TRU Law and UBC Law; Secretary, South Asian Bar Association; executive, CBA Research Section; elected representative, CBA Provincial Council; and member of CBA BarTalk, Provincial Judicial Committee and Federal Judicial Committee.
 



About Manpreet Mand
Manpreet K. Mand specializes in family law since being called to the BC Bar in 2007.  She is a UBC alumni, majoring in both History and Political Science, and a UVic alumni, obtaining her law degree in 2006. With over 16 years of experience in the negotiation, litigation, and resolution of all aspects of family law,

Manpreet regularly appears before the Provincial and Supreme Courts of British Columbia. She works with clients to determine effective approaches to resolving their family law issues. Manpreet is also accredited by the LSBC as a Family Law Mediator, Arbitrator and Parenting Coordinator and a member of the Collaborative Association (Lower Mainland). Manpreet is a legal member for the Mental Health Review Board.

Manpreet has a strong commitment to community and served as Director of a not-for-profit for over six years, and has dedicated her time and energy to other volunteer organizations as well, such as the Canadian Bar Association of BC, serving as the Westminster County Representative, a WLF Mentor, a Practice Coach and a member of the Court Services Committee. She is also a Director on the CLEBC Board.
