Practising law can be challenging for anyone, but many racialized lawyers face additional barriers based on institutionalized inequality. Those barriers are not insurmountable, however, and professional success is indeed possible.

Open to all lawyers, the 2019 Leading Change: Leadership Development Bootcamp for Racialized Lawyers, will offer lawyers of all backgrounds and at all stages in their careers, the tools needed to advance their career, build and leverage their support network and hone their executive presence. This one day exclusive event will be on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at the Toronto Board of Trade.

Come hear from senior and upcoming leaders in the legal profession who will share their personal insights and practical tips for professional and personal success in both plenary and small group breakout session formats.

Attendees will come away with strategies to navigate a path to leadership, while also working to overcome systemic barriers. A social networking reception to exchange anecdotes, personal stories and takeaways from the conference will wrap up the day.

Subsidy Assistance Program

The Leading Change: Leadership Development Bootcamp for Racialized Lawyers is open to all lawyers, and the CBA recognizes that in addition to institutionalized inequality barriers, many lawyers also face financial barriers.

Members who are interested in attending the conference but find the registration fee prohibitive can inquire about our subsidy program and save up to $300.00 on the registration fee (available on a first-come, first-served basis).

The CBA is committed to supporting and empowering its members, and invites eligible members to contact Sarah Massia at sarahm@cba.org to inquire and to register.
