Sterling Hillman and Martin Sennott provide an overview of BC’s new Commercial Liens Act, which came into force on June 30, 2025. The session unpacks how the Act reshapes lien rights, registration, and enforcement, with a focus on its implications for lawyers, lenders, and service providers. They also examine the first case interpreting the legislation — 1446649 B.C. Ltd. v. 1443120 B.C. Ltd., 2025 BCSC 1707 — and discuss practical strategies to navigate the important sections of the Act.
