Brian Yuen joins law students for a fireside chat to answer questions and share stories from his experience as a lawyer in the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. This unique opportunity offers students a chance to ask questions, share, and connect laid-back environment.
With over 17 years of experience, Brian is a civil litigator with a focus on estate litigation, immigration law, wills and estates, employment law and other personal disputes. In his 23 years of CBA membership, Brian has served as the CBABC SAGDA Section Chair, SAGDA National Section Chair in 2017, and currently volunteers on the National Section as Secretary.
About the Speaker
With over 17 years of experience, Brian is a civil litigator with a focus on estate litigation, immigration law, wills and estates, employment law and other personal disputes.
What sets Brian apart is his ability to listen, connect, relate, and empathize with his clients while his calming demeanor is an asset in any stressful situation.
Brian has regularly appeared in the Provincial Court of British Columbia, the Supreme Court of British Columbia, and the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada. Additionally, he has represented clients at the Human Rights Tribunal of BC, the Residential Tenancy Branch of BC, the Workers' Compensation Appeals Tribunal, and also worked at Worksafe BC, the BC Securities Commission, and at the Department of Justice in Ottawa.
Brian brings a varied and diverse wealth of experience to his work, from a strong retail background, to a career in music, serving on the boards of several LGBTQ and HIV/AIDS community organizations, sitting on various strata councils, acting as a director consultant of Business Networking International, to holding several leadership positions within the Canadian Bar Association BC Branch, where he is currently representing the immigration section on Provincial Council. Outside of work, Brian is a competitive bodybuilder. He loves to eat, read, and travel, and has a Boston Terrier puppy named Mocha.
