Pay (In)Equity in the Legal Profession and What to Do About It
Erin Cowling, the co-author of the CBA Women Lawyers Forum “Pay Equity in the Legal Profession” Report https://www.cba.org/getattachment/Sections/Women-Lawyers/Resources/Resources/2022/Pay-Equity-in-the-Legal-Profession/CBA-WLFPayEquityReport.pdf from November 2021, will present the findings of the report, including findings and recommended actions. The goal of this research initiative was to gather vital data about Canadian lawyers’ experiences, perceptions, opinions, and potential solutions to pay equity challenges, and to open a conversation about gender and pay equity. Sandra Hawes, a managing partner at a large national firm, will draw on her experiences to provide attendees with tips and practical advice on how to approach discussions about remuneration at the law firm setting.
