What Time Teaches: Insights After 40 Years on my Dispute Resolution Journey
Presented by the CBA Alberta Alternative Dispute Resolution (South) Section
We are delighted to welcome The Honourable Nancy Flatters, KC, as our guest speaker for a special ADR South Section meeting on September 29, 2025, where she will share insights from her distinguished career in academia, private practice, and the judiciary.
A trailblazer in ADR in Alberta, retired Justice Flatters designed the first ADR course at the University of Calgary’s Faculty of Law and led the development of the JDR Pilot Project for Calgary Family Court. She taught as an adjunct professor for 20 years, trained internationally, and served in leadership roles across numerous dispute resolution organizations, including a 17-year term with the Alberta Law Reform Institute.
Since retiring from the bench 10 years ago, she continues to train, mentor, and volunteer locally, provincially, nationally, and internationally, building bridges in all that she does.
